The Kia Optima four-door sedan was launched in 2000 as a rebadged Hyundai Sonata. It had a 2.5-liter V6 engine, although this became a 2.7 a year later. It was luxuriously appointed, with leather trim and alloy wheels fitted, and continued largely unchanged until 2005, when the second-generation car was launched. This version had a Kia platform as its basis, and the engine range kicked off with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. The Optima was given a facelift in 2008, as part of which it actually became 70mm longer, and was given more luxury equipment. In 2010, the Optima was given a keyless entry and start-up system.
