I was looking on the new Ford Owners website and under Sync Services, it said my non-Navigation equipped 2011 Flex had a new Sync update, v4.4. I dumped it to a USB stick and tried following Ford's instructions, while the instructions were somewhat close to actual I was able to fumble my way through and finally got the update installed.
One thing to remember if you try this is that there are time gaps when things appear frozen, you have to wait for those to catch up, then the next procedure will start. There are 2-3 re-boots of the system, gotta keep waiting for the 'Installation Complete' message.
Where can I download Ford Sync Ver. 3.1 software Need to upgrade SYS from Ford Sync 3.01 to 3.1, where can I get the download. This thread is locked. Apr 14, 2016 Update: For 2010-2012 Sync with Voice Activated Navigation. 4.4 (and 4.6 for other Fords) have been removed from Ford's Sync website. Well so they say, I was able to download file (DE8T-14D544-AC) today but it would not install. Sync rep said he will tell the engineers that people can still download it.
I went back to the FO website to validate the install from the USB stick, the website uploaded an .xml file from the USB stick and said it was done.I had to re-pair my bluetooth iPhone.
I haven't tried any of the improvements yet.

Ford Sync Dl3t-14d544-ae Version 4.4 Download
This upgrade includes a feature to invoke Siri by holding down the 'voice command' button on your steering wheel for 3 seconds. Unfortunately, it only works for Flex years 2011 and newer. Mine is 2010, which means the ability to invoke Siri via the iPhone home button is disabled when connected to Sync.Although many (including ford officials and dealers) have claimed downgrading to Sync 4.4 is impossible, there are records of some individuals online claiming it is possible. The process is simple and seems to work for them: perform a Master Reset, then install their old version of 4.4 via the thumb drive.
Unfortunately, this hasn't worked for me. But, I think it's because I may have 4.4 files that don't work with my Flex. I recently purchased my 2010 Flex SEL used and upgraded directly to Sync 4.6, so I don't have any previous version install files.
Does anyone here have install files for an older version of Sync? I'm pretty certain it would need to be for Sync without the touchscreen (as, that's what I have).
