The third-generation Dodge Caravan was available in a multitude of configurations, including long- and short-wheelbase versions, and models with three or four side doors. Engine choices comprised a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine or a 3.0-liter V6, also gasoline-powered. A clever new seating system was included (called Easy Out Roller Seats), as was a conventional rear hatchback. The fourth-generation version went on sale in 2000, and was heralded for having a power tailgate and side doors as options.
